Where buying beats renting
Lamps, rugs, mats, curtains and plants: neither site offers them, so these have to be bought anyway.
Small pieces (shoe cabinet, bookshelf, side table): ₹150–250/mo adds up to the cost of buying a similar piece in roughly 12–18 months. If you expect to stay longer than that, buying works out cheaper.
Fridge and RO: at ₹1,499 and ₹1,194/mo, renting passes the cost of buying in roughly 2 years (rough estimate, prices vary). Renting includes free service and filter changes, which matters for the RO.
Bed, sofa, coffee table, desk, bedside tables: rent. They are big, style-specific and costly to move.
Before you order
How these were picked: I went through every in-stock sofa (121), bed, coffee table, TV unit, bedside table and desk on RentoMojo with delivery set to our address, looked at each photo, and checked the size of every finalist against the floor plan. On Furlenco I scanned the full living-room and bed catalogues at our pincode, but most product photos would not load, so only the Mili Dvi bed is a photo-checked Furlenco pick.
Corner seat (4 Nov): I went through all 27 ottomans and 9 recliners on both sites (every photo). Two listings are named wrongly: Furlenco's Flex "Magic Beige" is rust, and RentoMojo's Henry "Sylvan Green" is cream; picks go by the photos. Every recliner is bulky when reclined and, in this living room, reaches into the path to the balcony door, so each theme's pick is an ottoman and the recliner is the second choice.
Corner seat (7 Nov): Moody now picks the Zest recliner. It sits beside the sofa's balcony end, angled to the TV, with the balcony glass slid behind it; the TV end of the door stays open, about 2.5 ft (about 2 ft when reclined). Seats between the coffee table and the TV would face away from it, so with guests the table stools pull out to the corridor end instead. A sofa with an arm along the balcony wall would block the door; a chaise L-lounger does fit (Calm uses the Leo in grey, and it also comes in brown, ₹993/mo). Other L-sofas in stock don't suit: Furlenco's are blue or yellow velvet, and RentoMojo's Brooklyn L "charcoal grey" photos all show blue.
Calm theme (4 Nov): picked from both sites' full sofa, bed, bedside, coffee-table and desk ranges; every photo and listing video of each pick and second choice was checked, and Furlenco stock was read live for our pincode.
Themes (4 Nov): the sofa, both beds, coffee table, bedside tables and workstation change with the theme; the TV unit, side table, shoe cabinet, fridge and RO stay the same in all three. Boho and Japandi picks are mostly RentoMojo because Furlenco's product photos would not load for checking; Furlenco's Boho Earth desk and Bianca desk were checked from their listing photos.
How the theme decides: the walls are cream, the doors teak-walnut and the kitchen pistachio, so every rented piece is walnut or dark wood, with sage/green and caramel as the colours. Where a cheaper piece matched the theme just as well, it is the pick (coffee table, bedside tables). Furlenco often shows "Out of stock" for an add-on (like a mattress) while the item itself is in stock; I checked the Add to cart button on each pick.
Several RentoMojo "Walnut" names are wrong: the Leonard TV unit, Minion bedside and Stuart desk are honey oak in their photos. The picks above go by the photo, not the name.
Bookshelf dropped for now (4 Nov). If you want one later, RentoMojo Rian (₹255/mo, 23 in wide) fits the short wall beside the bedroom door.
Plan length: RentoMojo prices are the 11-month rates (checked 4 Nov). The 12-month plan is about 2% cheaper per month (Rex sofa ₹960 vs ₹984), so if you are fairly sure of a year, pick 12. Furlenco shows one price with no plan picker; it is zero deposit and lets you return after 3 months, so confirm the monthly rent at checkout.
Furlenco was checked at our pincode (delivery 5–8 Nov). RentoMojo was checked at city level; enter our address at checkout to confirm delivery. Its nearest store is close by.
Both need online KYC after ordering, so order 3 to 4 days before you want delivery.
Rented pieces use the full Modern Moody colours (olive, walnut, sage headboard) because they go back when you move. Bought things (lamps, rugs, curtains) stay neutral so they work in the next flat.
Furlenco's L-sofas are 8.6 ft long and mostly blue or yellow, too long for your living-room wall. A 3-seater plus a matching ottoman gives the same L shape and fits.
Order the Furlenco bed first: only 1 was left on 3 Nov.
The RO and fridge in the video belong to the current tenant, so both are on the rent list.
